Set Regents Plans to Keep Students on Track for Graduation and Improve Graduation Rates
Updated over a year ago

This article will walk you through how to use the Portal to identify Regents exams students need to be on track, and schedule them for the upcoming or future administrations to keep students on track for their graduation plans. We will also dive into how you can leverage the tool to identify students who are scheduled to sit for an exam but are not in a preparatory course and ensure they are fully prepared for their upcoming exams.

What are Regents Metrics and Why Set Regents Plans?

Regents metrics allow schools to define when you expect students to pass the Regents exams needed for graduation. The Portal uses these customized metrics to determine which students are on/off track for graduation with regard to Regents exams and allows for schools to more easily plan for those students.

How can I set Regents requirements to monitor student progress to Graduation?

  • Utilize the left hand side navigation to navigate to the Regents Dashboard

  • Select the Setup page found in the Regents Dashboard

  • The Setup page explains the purpose of the features and lets you define key Regents metrics. These metrics are custom to your school and are used to help the tool identify which students are on or off track for their Graduation Plan.

  • Check the boxes in the On Track Regents Metrics table to define when you expect students to pass the Regents exams they need for graduation. If all cohorts follow the same sequence, you can simply just check this box. Be sure to complete both Regents/Local Diploma and Advanced Regents Diploma.

  • When complete, click save changes.

How do I assign students to sit for needed Regents exams?

  • Utilize the left hand side navigation to navigate to the Regents Dashboard

  • Select the Respond page found in the Regents Dashboard

  • You can use the new Regents Respond page to:

    • See which students are planned in the Portal for an upcoming administration that are not yet scheduled in the source system

    • Bulk assign Regents plans for students in Regents culminating courses

    • View needed, unplanned exams by graduation requirement

  • Click Assign Plans to plan a group of students for the same exam. For example: students in Regents culminating courses who are not planned for the aligned exams.

  • If you click Assign Plans, those students will be planned for the relevant upcoming Regents exam.

  • Click View in Grid to see a list of students who need the same kind of support in the Data Grid. From there, you can take batch actions for those students like planning them for needed exams, adding shared notes, generating reports, and more. You can also export these lists to a CSV.

How do I review courses aligned to exams and make adjustments if needed?

  • Utilize the left hand side navigation to navigate to Settings and then select the Master Program tab

  • Using Batch Actions on the right side navigation you can bulk assign prep to make adjustments for any subjects.

How do I identify students in need of a Regents Prep Support and assign Support?

  • Utilize the left hand side navigation to navigate to the Regents Dashboard

  • Select the Monitor page found in the Regents Dashboard

  • Click the Fully Supported For Upcoming Regents tile to see which students are supported for all the exams they are planned for in the upcoming administration. This includes students in a subject-aligned passing course, or who have been assigned additional Supports.

  • For students who are not fully supported, you can click a cell in the table under the column Not fully supported for upcoming Regents to see that list of students in the Data Grid.

  • From there, you can assign supports and take other bulk actions for those students
