Where can I record plans to resolve credit gaps?

Every effort should be made to resolve a credit gap by creating a plan that adjusts a student's program in the current term. Where that is not feasible, future plans should be created that identify what courses a student will take and when.

Recording these plans in the Portal helps to manage a complicated process and simplifies future decision-making.

Adding courses for the current term for a single student

  • Utilize the Student Profile link from the Left-side navigation to view information for a specific student

  • Once in the Student Profile click on the Credit Gaps panel to expand it

  • Click the Add To This Term button to create a plan for this term

    • The Course option allows you to choose a course from a generic code deck

    • The Other option allows you to input all of the information for course to add

      • Use the drop downs to populate the Credit requirement area, Number of credits, and Course

  • When you have finalized the course that you would like to add, click Add Plan, and the course will be added as a plan for the student's current term

  • Repeat for additional courses as needed

  • Once planning is completed, the color of the relevant tiles will adjust to reflect pending changes

  • Course plans need to be uploaded from the Portal into the source system before they become official

Adding courses for the current term for a group of students

  • Utilize the Left-side navigation to navigate to the Credits sidebar

  • Within the Credits Dashboard, select the Respond tab

  • Here you will find a list of students missing plans to address gaps, grouped by subject area

  • Select the view in grid option for the group you would like to highlight

  • Use the Batch Actions feature to select students to plan for and select Edit

  • Select Assign Course Plans to create a plan for this term

    • The Course option allows you to choose a course from a generic code deck

    • The Other option allows you to input all of the information for a specific course from scratch

      • Use the drop downs to populate the Credit requirement area, Number of credits, and Course

  • When you have finalized the course that you would like to add, click Assign, and the course will be added for the group of students

  • Course plans need to be uploaded from the Portal into the source system before they become official

Dropping courses for the current term

  • Click on the name of the student whose credit gaps you would like to view

  • Once in the Student Profile click on the Credit Gaps panel to expand it

  • Within the Current Program list, utilize the three dots to the right of each course to select Drop

  • This will create a pending drop for that course

  • Repeat for additional courses as needed

  • Course plans need to be uploaded from the Portal into the source system before they become official

Setting plans for future terms

  • Click on the name of the student whose credit gaps you would like to view

  • Once in the Student Profile click on the Credit Gaps panel to expand it

  • Navigate to the bottom of the Credit Gaps panel, select Add To Future Term

  • From there, a course list will appear titled Add Courses To Future Terms, giving the ability to filter for the term, subject and course code for the course that you would like to add to future terms

  • Click Add to assign the course

  • Repeat for additional courses as needed

  • Once planning is completed, the color of the relevant tiles will adjust to reflect pending changes

  • Course plans need to be uploaded from the Portal into the source system before they become official
