This article will explain how to create Supports in the Portal and how to assign students to Supports. Let's get started!


Overview


Create Supports

Follow these steps to create supports in the Portal:

  1. Click on Settings from the main left sidenav (Note: only Admins, Delegated Admins, and School Wide Editors can access "Settings")

  2. Click Supports in the left sidenav and then click Create new support

  3. Enter the details of your support and click Next

  4. When you are finished entering your support details click Create

Support Details

Support details include the following fields:

  • Name: this is the name of your Support that will show in the Support List and elsewhere in the Portal. Support names cannot be duplicated within a school.

  • Description (optional): this is an optional field to add a description to your Support. You can use this field to help indicate the specific domains the Support is focused on or any other miscellaneous information.

  • Category: select one or more categories to indicate what the Support is meant to help with

    • Subject: selecting the Academic and/or Regents prep categories shows the Subject dropdown, which allows you to pick the subject that is aligned to the Support

    • Regents admin (optional): selecting the Regents prep category shows the optional Regents admin dropdown, which allows you to pick the specific administration date of the Regents that the Support is meant to help with

    • Subcategories (optional)

  • Leads: select one or more Support leads who will be able to add students to their assigned Support and take attendance within their assigned Support

  • Frequency: select the frequency that the Support meets

  • Start and end term: select the start and end term of the Support

  • Start and end dates: select the start and end dates of the Support, keeping in mind that an individual student can have a student start and end date that falls within the Support start and end date.

  • Start and end time: select the start and end times of the Support, which are the same for every day the Support is offered

  • Location (optional): add an optional location (like a room number)

Assign Students to Supports

From a List:

  1. Click on any List view from the main left sidenav

  2. Use the dropdowns to select your focus, filter, and grouping. Alternatively, use the search bar to paste a list of OSIS numbers to pull up a custom list of students.

  3. From the right side click Batch actions

  4. Check the boxes next to the names of students you'd like to assign to a Support

  5. On the right side, click Supports and Assign support

  6. Start typing the name of a Support that has already been created, or type in the name of a new Support that has not yet been created.

  7. Click the Support you want to assign the selected students to, or if you've not yet created the Support, click Add new support and create a new Support

  8. Select the Student Start and End Date (the dates that a student is assigned to the Support that may be within the Support start and end date) and click Assign

From a School Dashboard:

  1. Click on any tile from the School Dashboard view on the main left sidenav to go to the Breakdown view

  2. Use the dropdowns to select your focus, filter, and grouping

  3. Click into any row to see the Student List

  4. From the right side click Batch actions

  5. Check the boxes next to the names of students you'd like to assign to a Support

  6. On the right side, click Supports and Assign support

  7. Start typing the name of a Support that has already been created, or type in the name of a new Support that has not yet been created.

  8. Click the Support you want to assign the selected students to, or if you've not yet created the Support, click Add new support and create a new Support

  9. Select the Student Start and End Date (the dates that a student is assigned to the Support that may be within the Support start and end date) and click Assign

From the Data Grid:

  1. Click on Data grid in the main left sidenav

  2. Filter and sort the columns to identify the group of students you'd like to add to a Support

  3. On the top of the screen, click Batch actions

  4. Check the boxes next to the names of students you'd like to assign to a Support

  5. On the top of the screen, click Edit and hover over Supports. Click Assign Support.

  6. Start typing the name of a Support that has already been created, or type in the name of a new Support that has not yet been created.

  7. Click the Support you want to assign the selected students to, or if you've not yet created the Support, click Add new support and create a new Support

  8. Select the Student Start and End Date (the dates that a student is assigned to the Support that may be within the Support start and end date) and click Assign

From the Student Profile:

  1. In a Student Profile, find the Supports Panel

  2. Click Assign Support

  3. Start typing the name of a Support that has already been created, or type in the name of a new Support that has not yet been created.

  4. Click the Support you want to assign the selected students to, or if you've not yet created the Support, click Add new support and create a new Support

  5. Select the Student Start and End Date (the dates that a student is assigned to the Support that may be within the Support start and end date) and click Assign
