Steps on how to get guardians set up and access the Family Portal

What is the Family Portal?

New Visions has partnered with Every Child and Family is Known to build a Family Portal designed to empower families to engage in their own voices with their children’s schools.

Features

Integrated with NYC.ID for easy login across NYC services

Guardians can log in to the Family Portal securely using one account for multiple city sites, including MyCity and Access HRA to apply for SNAP, cash assistance, and more

Manage program consent digitally

Guardians can submit, view, and revoke digital consent to participate in the Every Child and Family is Known program right in-app

Up-to-date student highlights

Families will be able to view all their children’s information across schools:

  • Every child’s Caring Adult

  • Enrollment information

  • Transportation plans

  • Attendance highlights

Real-time messaging and family needs

Families will be able to:

  • Communicate directly with their Caring Adult(s) in their own voice on any device

  • Engage on their own terms and on their own schedule

  • Request help from Caring Adults by tagging their specific needs

Designed for all

  • Mobile-first, responsive design means families will be able to access the Family Portal across all devices

  • Designed and built with accessibility in mind, meeting industry-best WCAG 2.2 AA standards

  • Families will be able to choose from any of the 10 designated citywide languages under Local Law 30 to engage in their preferred language

Login requirements

In order to access the Family Portal, guardians need to:

  1. Have an email address linked to an NYC.ID account (like MyCity or Access HRA) added to the Portal

  2. Be in ATS as their student's school emergency contact

How to give a guardian access to the Family Portal

  1. In the Portal, click ECFIK in the left sidenav

  2. For a student, click the three-dot menu on the right and click View Family Profile

  3. In the Family Profile, click Add guardian or Edit information to add the guardian email address

  4. Click Save
